The proposed cuts to Louth County Hospital Servcies are:

1. Closure of A&E for 12 hours a day -
This means all patients will have to travel past the closed gates of our hospital to go to Drogheda.

2. The 12 hour A&E to become a minor injuries clinic - Similar to that in Monaghan Town which is seriously limited in the injuries / illnesses it can treat.

3. Removal of Acute Medical Services - This is the service that cares for patients with chest pain, heart conditions, respiratory conditions.

4. Changing from 120 beds to 33 "respite" beds - in effect a glorified nursing home.

5. With the removal of all these services -  Intensive Care Unit will close.
